Sandy Griggs, Senior Center
Director-Quarterly Update |
Sandy Griggs, Senior Center Director, was
present to give the Board a quarterly update on the Center as
follows:
#1 The kitchen is fully staffed with the
recent addition of Kyle Wilcoxon and Debra Villalovos. Many
compliments are being received and it seems that lunch
attendance has increased.
#2 Currently delivering 200 meals per day,
and Site serving almost 100 between three Sites daily. This
averages to approximately 300 meals being prepared daily.
#3 Vehicles are ready for the winter
weather. Approximately 500 miles are being driven each day. This
is a total of all miles for meal delivery, Site drivers, escorts
and other transportation requests. Two vehicles are to be sold
at the auction. Recently had to put new brakes on the lift
equipped bus.
#4 Escort requests are continuing to be
numerous, possibly because of the higher gas prices. With prices
dropping, hopefully requests will also decrease. Escorts are
even arranged on holidays when the county is closed. We have had
several days where there have been in excess of eight trips, and
that is almost past the number we can accommodate. Destination
plays a big factor into whether we can arrange all requests, and
some have been refused with suggestion to re-schedule.
#5 Housekeeping services continue to remain
steady, assisting in keeping people independent and in their own
homes. Routine maintenance cleaning can be performed. There is a
current list of seven homemakers that serve over 125 clients per
month. The remaining grant funds received for this service will
be exhausted with the October reimbursement. Portion of October,
all of November and December will be covered wholly by the
Senior Center budget.
#6 The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition
Program ends the end of October. There were 484 Fulton County
Seniors served with this program from the USDA. Each person
received $40.00 in coupons to be used
throughout the growing and harvesting season.
#7 Medicare Part D enrollment begins
November 15. OSHIIP (Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information
Program) has been invited to present a program with all of the
updates and changes for 2009. |
