·Ziad Musallam,
County Sanitary Engineer-to discuss tap fees |
Mr. Musallam
presented the Board a quick history of the tap fee. 1992 was the
year. Resolutions adopted by 92-40, 94-57, 2000- based op meter
size based on the utilization. Mr. Rod Creager, Assistant County
Engineer, was the acting County Sanitary engineer at that time
and will be contacted to seek his thoughts and what he
remembers. Tap fees are paid into the fund itself, not specified
for specific use since we contract with municipalities. Mr.
Musallam explained the county charge vs. the municipality
charge. Commissioner Short asked if any additional connections
were made after the projects were completed. The answer is yes,
we have had several. The additions paid the current Tap fees,
based upon size. Sewers are maintained by the county and water
is not. That is why the county tap fee is lower, costs are
collected by use. Commissioner Genter would like to see
residential and commercial rates. Commissioner Short said he
wants’ to be business friendly to encourage use. Staff will
research the documents and schedule a time to discuss the
findings. The board asked how this would impact Agricultural
districts. Assessments are deferred until land use changes.
Commissioner Barnaby said he likes the idea of payment over
time. The Board wants’ to review the prior resolutions and
minutes. Staff will research the documents and schedule a time
to discuss the findings. |
