Melanie Gilders, Workforce Development Director
-Department Update

Anita Smith was also present for the update.
Ms. Gilders presented a packet of information for the Board and
proceeded with her department update. She reported they are
seeing about 140 people a month. 4th quarter services were
detailed with individuals using the resource room. She estimates
these services will be used more frequently in the coming weeks.
Reporting systems are changing most every month.
A continuation of unemployment applicants was looked at next.
Then a chart of PY06 first quarter performance measures and our
county is exceeding all of these measures. Ms. Gilders then
presented an overview of Governor Strickland's views on
workforce development for informational purposes only - nothing
has been set in stone at this point in time.
The Commissioners stressed that they would appreciate either or
both Ms. Gilders and Ms. smith attending the quarterly Area 7
meetings.
