Pete Skeldon and Brian Banister, Fulton County Dog
Wardens -Discuss Sale of Dog Tags |
Nancy Yackee, Doug Nafziger and Sally Whiting
from the Auditor's Office were present for the discussion as
well.
Mr. Skeldon started the discussion by presenting a proposal to
the Commissioners for a better way of tracking unlicensed dog
owners...hiring a couple college students to put on the road
with a retired deputy on Saturdays. Frank Onweller has said that
he would have a vehicle that could be used and Mr. Hall said
that he would have a vehicle as well. Weekends or evenings would
be a good time. Commissioner Genter asked if it would be
necessary to have an officer. Mr. Skeldon said that he would
feel better knowing the temperament of some individuals.
Delinquent letters are sent out from the Auditors' office in
February and then another in March.
The Dog Wardens have spoken to several retired officers and they
have expressed interest. Mr. Hall said that he thinks it's good
idea. Commissioner Genter said that he doesn't have a problem
with acting on the proposal. Commissioner Short said that he
thinks it's a great idea. Mr. Hall said that he would work it
out with the Wardens to get it put together. A target to get
this system going will be mid to end March. |
