Gene Sugg and Justin Thompson, Information Technology -
Department Update
|
Mr. Thompson and Mr. Sugg gave a powerpoint presentation,
starting with the Fulton County network per building. Present
functions of each server were explained. Mr. Sugg stated that
presently the tape backups cannot handle the data that they are
asked to backup. Data demands are exceeding the capacity to make
full backup. Planned storage capacity increases were discussed:
adding a Network Arrached Sorage Server (NAS) as the central
storage unit; adding a 15 cartridge tape autoloader; add 2 Dl140
servers to compliment and diversify the present load FCServer1
and FCServer2. Costs for these improvements are estimated at
$30,000. Commissioner Graf commented that we really need to look
at protection of these units. All agreed. Fire and heat issues
were discussed. |
