10:16:40 AM Ken Caldwell, Director Fulton County JFS - Discuss Current JFS Transportation Contracts
Ann Witte was also present for the discussion.

Mr. Caldwell presented a proposal to amend the current contracts to the Commissioners this morning. He noted that they are required to provide transportation to Medicaid recipients for medical, dental & dialysis appointments. The high price of fuel is making it difficult to make the current contracts agreeable with the contracted companies. The increase will be paid with federal dollars.

Commissioner Graf asked if any JFS vehicles were used for this purpose. Mr. Caldwell said he is not saying that it has never happened but not usually. Commissioner Graf questioned if owning several vehicles to make these trips would be a scenario that would make better sense...could we get reimbursed by Medicaid rather than contract it out. Ms. Witte said that she didn't think their agency could do that but a vendor is needed. Mr. Caldwell said that a driver could be hired but didn't know if that would be feasible.

Leasing is an option suggested by Mr. Hall. Commissioner Genter asked if the transportation grant was still out there and Mr. Hall said that it is. Mr. Caldwell commented that transportation is a critical issue in a lot of counties.

An amendment will be prepared and sent to Prosecutor for approval as to form and will then be before the Commissioners.
