9:38:20 AM Melanie Gilders & Anita Smith -Workforce Development Update Melanie gave a One-Stop update. There is a person working 4 hours a day from Experience Works and Melanie reported her working out fine. She added that she is trying to get one more person from Experience Works to help out and getrained int he event the other person gets a job. There is also an attempt to get a veteran into the office to do some on-the-job training to enable him to be more marketable in the workplace. She reported there is an employment representative in the office now as well.

Melanie also reported on some grant dollars available for their use and how they are going to utilize those. The office is looking to update their computers etc and to add signage to assist people as they are looking for the right place to go.

Melanie reported their One-Stop received a very high review in a recent certification. One item of concern noted was the lack of signage and also cleanup of a recent audit problem. Full certification is expected but will remain monitored to assure the items of concern are taken care of.

Anita and Melanie also asked how the Commissioners wanted to proceed with obtaining additional members. Should they send letters or do the Commissioners want to. Mr. Hall said that actually the Chambers of Commerce in each village took the initiative in doing that. Comissioners Graf and Genter suggested looking at the companies that are using the services already for interested persons. Melanie and Anita will work with Vond on a letter as well as Lisa Arend. Melanie said producing a timeline is what they are really looking for at this time.

Melanie asked about a mission statement found that was dated in 2000 and wondered if it was ever acted upon. Commissioner Graf stated that it was adopted by the board and should be found in the minutes where it was adopted.

Melanie also presented a 2004 Summary of Activity for Fulton County Workforce Development. She asked if there were any questions at this time that the Commissioners get them to her and she will address them.

Commissioner Graf asked Melanie if she knew how to do the PESCO testing. Melanie answered that she is working on learning that. Anita said that Lisa is knowledgeable in the area. Commissioner Graf said that should be a priority that we have a staff person that knows this.

Commissioner Graf also asked if Able was doing his job. Melanie said that she had not had a report from him but assumes that he is. Commissioner Graf said to not assume but to find out since the county is paying a lot of money for that contract and to hold him accountable. Anita and Melanie said they would follow up.
