Townships in Ohio provide similar services as cities and villages but do so in their own geographical service area.  

In Ohio, Townships account for 34.2% road jurisdiction, vs. Municipalities account for 26.1%, Counties 23.9%, State 15.9%.  (2011 Ohio Department of Transportation RI-399 Report).  

Average population of a township in Ohio is 3,100, and comprises 35% of Ohio's population.  

Fulton County has 12 Townships, Amboy, Chesterfield, Clinton, Dover, Franklin, Fulton, German, Gorham Pike, Royalton, Swancreek and York.
